PRODUCT DESIGN

At tensARC we pride ourselves on our innovative product design talents.

We use a wide range of methods depending on the issues we are dealing with, this includes numerical analysis and modelling, 3D visualisation, rapid prototyping, prototyping / testing to name a few.

We will select the most appropriate design route that best suits our clients requirements, priorities and budget. We can also offer options to reduce development costs by sharing in the longer term success of the solution.

Using in-house software we can quickly produce concept images to help you better understand what your canopy or product will look like. This can be done at an illustrative level or if you are after something more realistic we can also produce photo real images and photomontages.

MEMBRANE DESIGN

Membrane design forms the major part of tensARC's core business. We are market leaders in small-scale, deployable, tensile canopies and have developed a unique approach to these types of structure. Careful attention to detail has not only reduced costs it, has made them much easier to handle and install. This technology is showcased in our Shadeplus range of canopies.

In addition to this 'domestic' scale work we also undertake work on larger scale permanent canopies for the architectural market. Types of structure include walkways, playground shade, awnings etc.

Recently tensARC have also moved into the interiors market. We aim to bring the same level of innovation and fresh thinking to this area of the market as we have done with the external domestic canopy market.

During the last 2 years we have developed a unique system for internal tensile sails that offers great flexibility with very clean, elegant detailing and a simple installation process. Using relatively lightweight, Lycra-based fabric, the sails tension simply and easily into elegant, 3-dimensional, wrinkle-free forms. The system is currently used in our Freeform range of sails but can be exploited and adapted for a wide range of internal applications.

DEPLOYABLE STRUCTURES

tensARC are experts in the design of deployable structures; an area where we are truly able to innovate. Our design process allows us to analyse fully the problem in hand, in order to offer optimum solutions for our clients.

Our design approach is to look at problems from a first principle level - this applies equally to new product design or refinement and improvement of existing products. This approach allows us to develop a solution without losing sight of the end-goal or indeed the client's budget! Processes include: in-depth material research, computational finite element analysis, prototyping, 3D visualisation, value engineering. We will select the best method of development to suit the client's budget. We also offer options to reduce development costs by sharing in the risk thereof, in return for longer term reward for a successful design outcome.
