PAUL BAGLIN - Managing Director

Paul graduated with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering in 1992 and has 3 years experience on major projects for Kier Construction, one of the UK’s leading civil engineering contractors. He moved to the Structural Engineering Research Group at Dundee University in 1994 to develop high capacity shear beams for special applications and obtained a Ph.D. in 1998.

He has worked on the development of several novel structural systems with Dundee University, Durham University and Cranfield Military College; and has co-authored a number of papers in these areas. More recently he has focused on developing robust finite element methodology for analysing complex structures with commercially available software packages.

Paul has experience in developing and testing structural solutions in reinforced concrete, steel, timber, timber composites, aluminium, grp, carbon fibre and tensile fabric membranes.

He has extensive numerical modelling experience with ABAQUS, ABAQUS CAE, SEBTA & Strand7; has developed and published analytical techniques from first principles, and has practical experience with many of the major design codes. Recently he has developed new numerical techniques for form finding of tensile membranes.

Key responsibilities: Financial management, FE analysis, Structural design, Component design.
